My husband and I just renewed our lease here at the Summer House for the 5th year and are very content and happy living here. The Summer House Team is exceptional and always there to assist. We feel part of a community living at the Summer House.

The ladies who run the front office did everything they could to make me happy. They are really nice and sincere people who want you to be happy. But I decided to find a place with a yard of my own. We moved in on 4/7/23 to unit 219 just above loading docks on Arctic … our balcony is unpleasant from the odors from the huge compacting dumpster in one of the bays. They usually leave the bay doors open during the day and in the summer the smell is even worse. Trucks picking up trash from here and across the street will wake you up. It had new carpet and fresh paint but the paints finish is not very good and the carpet is cheap. There were a lot of things we had to have maintenance fix within first couple of weeks like a door that was coming off it’s hinges, cracked toilet tank, blocked AC drain dripping on patio, lights and outlets not working, etc. Maintenance guys were timely and the app they have makes it easy to submit requests and management is pretty quick to reply. The tiles in the kitchen have spider cracking throughout which was noted during initial inspection, which should have been replaced before we moved in. I’d say make sure you see your unit before deciding to live here if at all possible. *** Then there’s the German cockroaches that they say are common in waterfront communities … not true if you own a house as my sisters do down here … the roach problem is not unique to this unit … it’s throughout the whole complex as made evident in conversations I’ve had with 3 other residents who live in different parts of the building who have to mitigate like we do … so count on asking for their monthly sprays or treatments ***First couple of weeks they were preparing for HUD inspection and the fire alarm company was testing their system … it accidentally went off at random times over. Purse of a couple weeks ***Then the worst thing which is what makes us want to move are the people living above us. *** Before choosing to live here I read these google reviews … I read one review that the walls are paper thin but figured it couldn’t be that bad. Luckily our unit is at end of building so my roommate doesn’t have anyone on her side of the wall but the guy in the bedroom above hers walks heavy and it’s thump thump thump everywhere he goes. Then there’s the guy above my master bedroom who does the same thing … it’s pretty constant, seems he’s here most of the time as I’m fully remote. Wakes me up at night and even was playing loud music at midnight. They ask you complain to management or call security if the quiet hours are violated or even 911. I figured I’d just go ring their doorbell and ask nicely. The guy indicated he would turn it down but he never did. When I told management the next day they gave them a formal warning as they have procedures for evicting unruly tenants. But they say there’s nothing they can really do about them walking and what often sounds like stomping around at all hours of the day and night … other than advise me to call security. I actually had on-site security go to their unit 5/6/23 and tell them it was bothering us today while I was working from 6am to 4pm … it was pretty much non stop up until the security guy went to their door around 3pm. ***You have to wait 6 months before they will allow you to move to a different unit OR they will allow a 60 day notice if you want to end your lease if you have mitigating circumstances. Although I love the beach life and the proximity, this apartment unit is not for me.

As empty nesters, just selling our family home ..my husband and I are so completely impressed and happy about the management/customer service SHA has given. April helped us with every need for move in. We were blessed to get a beautiful unit with a view. The service speaks volumes not just for the staff.. but the property manager Mike. The attention to detail, pleasant addressing of all questions and issues..and last but not least..fantastic all inclusive theme parties for the tenants! We just wanted to let everyone know.. the staff and and PM Mike, are a class act and much appreciated.

Best location right in the heart of the Oceanfront. The staff is always friendly and helpful. The common areas are well maintained. We love this place.

Just signed year two lease at Summer House. Really happy to be here. Staff is great. The core members, Carly and Alicia at the front of the house, and Noelle and Goldie in maintenance, were here before I was here. Always helpful, no matter what the dilemma (minor issues for me). My apartment is surprisingly quite. Location is very attractive. I can go for weeks without driving. Harris Teeter, CVS, dentist, post office, hardware store and more within 3 blocks. Boardwalk and the beach two blocks away, with all the festivals and such to take in. I enjoy taking in the vibes of relaxing/partying vacationers. I’m on permanent vacation.
