Cindy was absolutely wonderful to work with. I asked to tour the apartment multiple times, and she accommodated every single request without a hint of impatience. As someone new to the area, I really appreciated how generously she shared her knowledge of the neighborhood and what life in Philadelphia would be like. You can tell she's a true veteran in the field. If you're considering this property, you're in great hands with Cindy.

Thank you to our excellent maintenance team for so expeditiously taking care of a maintenance issue in my apartment that occurred outside of regular working hours. Chris was able to fix what could easily have turned into a disaster. Our entire maintenance team is all of efficient, professional and dependable. They are THE BEST!!!I

I want to give a shout out to Jennifer Carr, Sterling's Community Liaison/Manager. When we scheduled a tour to visit apartments, our leasing agent had a sudden emergency and wasn't able to notify us for close to an hour. After seeing us wait for a long time, Jennifer stepped in with a genuine effort to help us and her colleagues in any way possible. It was clear she cared about the people she worked with and the residence, despite her saying she had only worked at the Sterling for 3 months, you could tell she was passionate about helping. She made sure to connect with the leasing agent, and take us on a series of super informative apartment tours. She also told us a lot about the neighborhood and was a model professional. She'll make a wonderful leasing agent one day and she would be someone we'd love to work with one day.

BEWARE OF THE STERLING --> I will be updating this review with new information on a rolling basis. In my one year at the sterling, I: - Had CONSTANT cockroach infestations. It was so bad that the sterling moved me into a different unit. I had an even worse infestation in the second unit; - Had hazardous MOLD in the unit; and - Am personally aware of multiple other tenants with the same problems, including families with children that had to vacate due to hazardous conditions. The sterling has the most incompetent staff I have ever encountered, who refuse to fix anything, take no responsibility, operate premises under unlawful conditions, and operate by practices of lying and predatory tactics toward prospective and existing tenants. By no means move in here. It is a hazard to your health and property. The property should be condemned and the management staff should not hold positions responsible for the wellbeing of others. I will continue to provide further information and pictures. Beware of fake positive reviews on google. /2 Despite what the response below falsely states, the sterling took WEEKS to respond to mold complaints. When they came, rather than calling professionals, they wiped away black mold with a paper towel. Sterling was unresponsive to mold issues, and when they came, they mishandled entirely. Attaching more pictures of mold. Sterling management continues to lie in its responses to my review. /3 More details! The cockroach problem was so bad that the sterling moved me into a second unit (which also had cockroaches). In between the two units, the sterling told me to get a hotel and promised to pay for it. Then, they refused to pay, pretended like our written agreement didn’t exist, and blocked my phone calls. That’s the kind of people you are dealing with at AIR Communities.

October update: The issue has been resolved. I contacted their regional manager, and shortly after, Sterling’s building manager reached out to me. He apologized for the experience and explained that most tenants don’t clean their rooms when moving out, so they automatically charge a cleaning fee. He agreed to refund the charge. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- July 3 update: I received a call from the building today stating that the charge is fair and will not be removed. It's hard to believe how condescending and arrogant the management team is. This has been a terrible experience. Avoid this building! -------------------------------------------------------------------------- My first Google review ever. Recently had a negative experience when moving out. Despite spending many hours cleaning the room, the move-out team charged me a $160+ cleaning fee. After I sent over 30 pictures I took as evidence of the cleaned room, someone from the team replied, "You were charged a cleaning fee because the apartment was not cleaned to our standards. We require the apartment to be professionally cleaned and sanitized upon move-out." This is unjustified, as their standards may exceed what normal people can reasonably achieve. I'm attaching some of the pictures for others here to judge.
