alisha pope 4 months agoWas there for a tour today for my daughter. Nick was very nice and helpful. Made us feel welcomed. Was surprised on all of the seasonal activities they have. You can tell he love his job and made sure everyone feels welcomed. Loved the outside heated patio. He recommended places to eat and things to do. Definitely would recommend seeing this place.
noy zerzion 4 months agoI move around for work a ton and have lived in 6 apartments in 5 years. Urbanite was by far the best of them. Very nice rooms with gorgeous balconies. Not one time did I have to call maintenance for any issues with the apartment aside from when I locked myself out at 3am and maintenance responded and came within 15 minutes to help me out. The gym, community room, lobby and apartments themselves are all fantastic. Nick and John are very responsive via email or call and always happy to help. They are hands down the best as well as organizing fun activities like taco Tuesday's or even just catering food for residents to grab after work. I was brand new to Wisconsin and this apartment took a great toll of stress off the move. If you need parking then the heated parking garage is fantastic and as good as it gets for city parking. Overall a great apartment with very organized management
John Ramey a month agoI’m not even sure where to begin because Diana made such a great impression from the moment she introduced herself to the moment we left. She was incredibly professional, but also so warm, welcoming, and genuine that she immediately made us feel comfortable. As we sat down to discuss my goals and the different options available, she took her time walking us through everything and even offered to show us every floor plan. What really stood out to me was how she interacted with current residents when we were briefly interrupted during our tour. She treated everyone with the same kindness, respect, and hospitality she showed us, which said a lot about the kind of person she is. Diana clearly understands what it means to be a prospective tenant and genuinely cares about people’s experience. She was also very open about her own journey and the career she’s building, which made it easy to root for her on a personal level too. Even though we haven’t officially signed a lease yet, I can honestly say that Diana will absolutely be part of our decision-making process because we know we’d be in good hands with her. I highly recommend asking for Diana if you’re considering The Urbanite.
Madeline Johnson 7 months agoI have lived in several apartment communities over the years, and this has easily been the best experience I’ve ever had. The management team is incredibly kind, attentive, and consistently responsive—whether I’ve had a quick question or needed something addressed by maintenance, they’ve always handled it with impressive speed and genuine care. The staff goes above and beyond to make residents feel valued and supported. The community itself is also wonderful. They host thoughtful resident events that create a warm, welcoming atmosphere and make it easy to connect with neighbors. It truly feels like a community rather than just a place to live. After living in a variety of apartments, none have come close to the level of quality, service, and comfort I’ve experienced here. I couldn’t recommend this place more highly.
Bob Erickson 2 years agoThis review is tough to write because there is so much I like about living at the Urbanite. I'll start with the good and end with the bad. John: the Property Manager, Amber: the Assistant Property Manager and Nick: the Head of Maintenance are all very personable and empathetic individuals. Basically what Wisconsinites call "good people". The location is prime: - a few blocks from restaurants and bars on Brady - about five blocks from places like Landmark Lanes and the Oriental Theater - about five blocks from Whole Foods - a few blocks from the Oak Leaf Trail - very close to McKinley Park and beach - nice views The common areas are kept clean, the community room is great, good gym on-site, underground parking is great. Suite 17 on any floor is going to have a really nice layout, floor-to-ceiling windows, absolutely gorgeous views at sunset, balcony that looks south over Lake Michigan, huge master closet, etc. The issues I have are isolated to my experience in Suite 1217, and warrant the rating I have given. After reading this, it probably will make me sound like a doormat, but I like to give people the benefit of the doubt and was very busy with a new business to continue to hound management to take action every week. I moved in August of 2022 and not long after I noticed a severe water leak when it rains. The leak is in the south-east corner of the master bedroom ceiling (you can see where they've tried to patch it) and damaged a table before I was aware of it. Depending on the wind direction it will leak when it rains (about 35% of the time, it seems). Almost two years later and I still cannot place anything in that corner, or risk having it ruined. Most recent leak was April 27th 2024 at 4AM. The slow dripping noise will certainly keep you awake. (see photos and video) I also noticed that a lot of my clothes were shrinking, but as I had gained a few pounds, I assumed that is why things were fitting tighter. In order to preserve the longevity of my clothes, I wash most everything in cold water. It wasn't until about a year into living here that I went to take my clothes out of the washer and into the dryer directly after the cycle finished. To my surprise, the clothes felt warm/hot. After calling maintenance, they confirmed that the hoses were wrong and I was both washing AND rinsing all of my clothes in hot water for a year. Not only have my clothes shrunk, but many have broken down very quickly. I noticed I was having breathing issues more frequently and decided to check the all-in-one heater/air-conditioner. I doubt they have been cleaned since the building was built. I had to find a youtube tutorial to figure out how to disassemble and clean the mold (see photo). Lastly, the door to the balcony was improperly hung and is missing a section of the gasket. There is also a window in the master bedroom that is missing a gasket. This means that on windy days you can hear - quite loudly - the air rushing in. (listen in video) February was the worst. We had one of the most mild February's in recent memory and by energy bill was close to $200 (January, as well). You'll hear and feel the cold air rushing in in the Winter and the hot air in the Summer. Management has know about this since last Autumn. They told me that someone was coming to fix it in November. After a week, I had to ask again and was told they would need to reschedule. After another week I was told the same thing and basically gave up on the management. I decided a about a month back to give them another chance, and surprise! I've been told the same thing for the past few weeks. Like I said at the beginning, these aren't bad people and are probably trying their best - it's just not good enough. It's a shame, but obviously I won't be renewing my lease. If you are in a different Suite, I recommend checking the washer before your first load to make sure the hoses are not switched. If you are unlucky enough to have signed a lease for Suite 1217, prepare for huge energy bills and a leaking ceiling - all for a premium price.
