Danny G 2 months agoOk I don't normally write reviews but I need to after reading some of these other ones. I've lived at The Larking for 2 years now and my lease is up this summer. I honestly didnt think I was going to renew for a 3rd year but I just decided to renew because things have gotten way better with new management. Theres actually people at the desk now during the day which we used to have when I first moved in but haven't for like the last year. You can also see the new manager in his office which never used to happen. We now have a bunch of flavors of syrups and creamers at the coffee bar and they just added some fancy new tea that looks cool but I don't drink tea. Theres a cart by the elevators with free dog treats and toys and I think they just added lockers for dry cleaning. Carlos the best maintenance guy from the old management stayed on and he's still the best, but the new maintenance manager made us pancakes one morning which was awesome. I also really liked that they gave me candy and a note with my renewal letter instead of just sending an email like the old company and it seems like they actually care. We also have free wine or breakfast every week which is also new. No management is perfect but so far the new company is way better than what we used to have. I'm excited to see what else happens here because in not even 2 months things are so much better.
SKB 3 months agoAs a tenant in one of the penthouse units at The Larking, I’m deeply disappointed with how the property is currently being managed. Over the past several days, there has been virtually no focus on change management. Operational rules seem to change almost daily with little notice, and residents are somehow expected to track every update through emails and letters in real time. There is rarely clear reasoning, context, or a backup plan. Just another notice saying something has changed. What makes this more frustrating is that the previous team and staff were consistently kind, professional, and reasonable. Unfortunately, my interaction with the current team was the opposite. The approach came across as arrogant, dismissive, and unapproachable, which is unacceptable for a property that positions itself as a premium living experience. I usually do not raise concerns publicly. I would have preferred to speak directly with management, but the current environment does not feel welcoming for a reasonable conversation. That is why I am writing this out of genuine disappointment toward a place I call home. I previously lived in another property managed by Village Green in Minneapolis and had a difficult experience there as well. Seeing a similar pattern unfold here is concerning. Paying this level of rent and receiving this level of service is not acceptable and is making me seriously reconsider whether continuing to live here makes sense.
Belky Hernandez 6 months agoIt took forever and several tours of different apartments that didn’t fit. Then one night I randomly cam across The Larking. It says a lot that I committed sight unseen! AJ was so helpful in getting through my questions and my application on NYE, the whole thing was smooth though time consuming - I do love the extensiveness though it makes me feel good to know my neighbors all passed too! I moved in today so it’s all so fresh. I came into a very clean sanitized apartment with cute little welcome gifts. Chenoa was so incredibly helpful in my moving. Answered questions, lended my dad and I her gloves because we were freezing, and helped us when the elevator wouldn’t go. The move was a lot easier because of her help! And the residents I came across were so nice! Opening doors when they saw me struggling with my puppy. All so sweet. Overall, such a positive experience on a stressful move in day in January. Thoroughly impressed. I’ll try to update once I’ve experienced living here.
Maria T 3 months agoAs a resident of Larking, I have also been thoroughly disappointed by the new changes made by Village Green management with their takeover of the building as of 2/2026. I do not mind the hiccups with the transition period though completely understandable to be voiced by other comments here. What I do mind however, is the criminal living increases made by this new management. I received notice that as an "early bird", my rent will go up 4%, which is already pushing it on a regular basis. Imagine the gall to then specify that if delaying the early bird period, rent will go up by 10%. Furthermore, they are changing pricing of parking spots from the standard $185 by the previous management to now up to $275. I have lived in bigger cities and in much more populated neighborhoods, and have yet to encounter such rent prices/parking prices, which by comparison for Elliot Park, MN, are absolutely ridiculous. Until this is addressed by management, I am afraid I cannot justify the living conditions of the building to the new costs they deem to be equivalent (they are not).
Ash M 5 months agoI had high hopes for this community, but unfortunately my experience has been disappointing. Although the building is advertised as smoke-free, there is a strong and frequent marijuana smell in the hallways. It gets so noticeable that residents often need to use plug-in air fresheners in the hallway just to make the air tolerable. This has been ongoing and takes away from the comfort of living here. The gym is also very underwhelming for a property of this size. While the room itself is large, it is mostly empty space. There is only one leg machine and one StairMaster, with very limited equipment overall. For anyone who takes fitness seriously, this is not a functional gym — it feels more like a half-finished amenity rather than a fully equipped fitness center. Overall, while the building has potential, the lack of enforcement of the smoke-free policy and the poor gym setup make it hard to recommend. I hope management takes these issues seriously and improves the living environment for residents.
