We lived here a couple years ago and overall had a pretty great experience while staying. Amenities were good, the staff helpful. However, the move out was absolutely horrible. We left the apartment in immaculate condition and were told "the walls smell like our cooking", and "the apartment needs a repaint and cleaning", etc. They will say whatever they need to keep your security deposit. Subtle racism aside, you just can't be doing that anyways. Just sort the reviews here by lowest to highest and you can see how all the complaints are the same on google and yelp. Finally getting around to trying to get the deposit back in small claims (been a while), and when you try to fill out the small claims form you need to find who to serve. I found so many of these cases (publically listed) against the company that owns Taft Apartments. If you want to stay here, just mentally note that you will be paying the security deposit ahead of time. Or maybe you can prepare in advance and see if you can stop it by knowing your stuff during move out inspection. To the Taft management/owners - just price it into the monthly rent, that's way more respectable... c'mon guys.

I have been here since 2024, and honestly have nothing but positive feedback for Alaric and the rest of the staff. My floor is quiet, the apartments are good quality, and the maintenance team is very responsive whenever I need something looked at. I love the access to downtown. It's a good sweet spot for me because it isn't far from the restaurant or bars but also not annoyingly close to the point where you would have to deal with traffic and people. For being downtown in a recently constructed building, I think the rental rates are competitively priced. The amenities I use the most like the gym and rooftop grills are clean. I recommend this place if you are looking to live downtown!

Best managers (so responsive, so helpful) I am definitely annoying as I'm always somehow leaving my keys randomly but they help me with that, clean spaces, things get fixed, pretty hang out areas, and the gym is nice although I wish they had more variety of plates and leg machines BUT that's only a small complaint. Feel pretty safe. My neighbors are nice. Overall could not really ask for a better apartment. It's low-key kinda expensive though

I lived here for about a year and a half, and my experience during that time was great. However, I moved out two months ago and still haven’t received my security deposit. During my pre-inspection with Alaric Hill, he confirmed that the unit was in great condition and that I would receive my full deposit. I also had the unit professionally cleaned before moving out and barely used any of the appliances (I never even used the oven). Since then, I’ve emailed the office four times and called over 50 times, but my calls never go through and I haven’t received any response.

Honestly loved my stay here. Highly safe and secure. I didnt take advantage of the area it's nestled in, when you really should as there are events constantly happening in SoFa and the convention center. Staff are attentive and professional at all times. Sure their parking situation isn't without its flaws but its a unique system. They are responsive in punishing rule breakers and getting the car lifts fixed within 24 hrs, with compensation. My only actual gripe would be the cleanliness of shared spaces between other residents. Their private gym is lovely but I genuinely lost count on how many times another resident would leave their weights racked, attachments hooked, medicine balls left around, or overcomplicated hip thrust configuration left in place. People would knowingly use a defective punching bag, fully aware it would leave a mess behind and would never bother to clean after themselves. Many times. That's wild. Same goes for the trash chutes. They have so many warning signs plastered all over the walls Stevie Wonder would have seen them, yet people would constantly take advantage and dump their 95 inch plasma screen tv cardboard box in there. The cleaning ladies there are far too sweet to put up with that. Whatever, this is at no fault of staff. This is just a rant over etiquette. Be a good neighbor! Anyways, if your on the fence with this place, definitely go for it. You'll likely be pleased. There are kind souls within the management here that will work with you.
