Asad Abas a month ago★★★☆☆ My experience staying at Troy Boston Apartments has been a mixed one, with both positive and negative aspects. On the positive side, the apartments offer good basic facilities and amenities, and some parts of the property are bright, pleasant, and well-maintained. The location and overall living environment can be quite enjoyable at times. However, the experience has not been consistently positive. Certain areas of the property feel less inviting and could benefit from better upkeep. Interactions with management have also varied, ranging from helpful and professional to less responsive than expected. One concern has been the cost of utilities, particularly the water bill, which I found to be surprisingly high. Greater transparency regarding utility charges would be appreciated and would help residents better anticipate their monthly expenses. Overall, Troy Boston Apartments has its strengths and weaknesses. It provides decent accommodation and useful amenities, but improvements in consistency of management services, property maintenance, and utility cost management would enhance the resident experience.
Sourcherrytart 2 months agoBased on our experience, I would recommend approaching this property with caution. Location: I would say the only highlight for this building is the location, it is very easy to walk to SeaPort, DT, South Station, Chinatown, Back Bay and South End. It is a reasonable walk to the silver, red and orange line. You are seconds away from Whole Foods, Tatte, CVS and restaurants. Building: The amenities are decent overall. I loved the multiple outdoor spaces and the rooftop deck. The gym is well equipped, and the pool is a nice feature. However, the building is old. The only time we tried to use the fireplaces, only one of the four was working, and the TV had a cracked screen and wouldn’t turn on. Apartment: No major complaints about the unit itself, except that the fridge is tiny. Whole food is right across the street so that makes it manageable since we didn't need to store food. Management: Unfortunately, this management office is a nightmare. Both our move-in and move-out experiences were frustrating to say the least. Months before our lease ended, we were notified of an 11% rent increase. When we reached out to the leasing office, we were told to contact the “renewal team,” like, none of the 3 staff on site can discuss lease renewal??? Anyway, I called and was told the rent was “below market rate” and non-negotiable. WHY ask me to call if the rent is non-negotiable?! Later, the property manager called and mentioned they might be able to revisit the rate, but nothing meaningful came of it. At that point we were done with the building and didn't want to deal with it anymore so we moved. And the most ridiculous thing is that the unit sat vacant for MONTHS and was listed at a lower rate than what we were paying, even before the increase!! All to say, resident retention and customer experience were not clearly not priorities for this management company.
Clover a month agoAs others have shared this place is a total money grab. Unhelpful leasing office and massive rent increases upon renewal. Then after you are forced out, empty apartments sit on the market for months before being rented for less than what you were originally paying. Location is great but the managent is terrible, which is too bad, but there are many nicer apartments and communities in Boston.
Timothy Dufficy 4 months agoTroy Boston is a nice place, but my experience has been a total money grab from start to finish. I was offered a lease renewal at the beginning in January for an April lease. The offer increased the total rent over $200 per month. Decided to look elsewhere and ultimately signed a new lease with another property. After 3 days, I checked the Troy Boston website and my current apartment is being listed for $200 less than what I am currently paying, a total of a $400 difference per month in my offer renewal vs what they are asking of from a new tenant. On paper, this feels like discrimination. To follow up on my review - I was directed to the Troy Boston leasing office where I had a conversation with Moise regarding my experience and acts of targeted retaliation and discrimination. I have not been able to have a conversation with anyone in the Management office with the ability to make actionable change or the "chance to make things right". The comments below by the Troy Boston (ownership) appear to be a publicity stunt and/or message to preserve the reputation of the community and the community is not willing to do anything to make a difference. Renters beware.
David Lockwood 5 years agoMy quality of life has improved exponentially since moving to Troy Boston. Everything about the building is extraordinary. I’ve lived in managed communities within greater Boston in the past but have never experienced the high level of service, amenity, and convenience offered at Troy. The management team has been wonderful to work with. Travis in particular was incredibly helpful throughout the move-in process. The maintenance team is professional and efficient. Alexis and Jada (concierge team) continue to impress me with their kindness, care, and knowledge of the building. The other day, I arrived at the front entry obviously struggling with grocery bags (Whole Foods is a 30-second walk away… it’s amazing). Jada quite literally sprinted to the door to assist. This is just one example of the many acts of kindness executed on the regular by Troy’s concierge team. My roommate and I adore our new home. If you’re looking to move with a friend, Troy has so many 2B/2B apartments that accommodate a roommate situation perfectly. Square footage is small, but we don’t mind because the space is so usable and beautiful! Finishes resemble that of a modern flat in London. Floor-to-ceiling windows. Small, but extremely efficient German engineered appliances. Water pressure/temperature is insanely good. Love the Nest thermosets and custom cut fabric blinds. Condo-grade finishes throughout. Amenity spaces (some of which were just renovated) are unreal. Great options for work from home, multiple roof decks with unbeatable views of the city, very impressive Covid-friendly gym… did I mention the pool!? I can’t wait to share these spaces with friends and family when it’s safe to do so. Also- the enormous interior loading dock was extremely helpful at move-in. Neighborhood is the best in Boston. Some of my favorite restaurants (Chops, Kava, Yellow Door, Frenchie etc.) are less than a 10-minute walk away. Whole Foods, CVS, and Sweetgreen are less than a 2-minute walk away. Street parking is easy with a resident sticker. Please forgive the long review. In short, leasing with Troy Boston may be one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. I highly recommend considering this community.
