I lived in the Hudson (the Hudson & DeSoto are right next to each other and managed by the same people), and it was the best apartment experience both my partner and I have had. We rented the apartment sight unseen, and were grateful to find the apartment looked exactly like the online photos, and was very clean, spacious and full of light due to the huge windows. Laurie, the building manager, is fair and professional, and was one of the few leasing managers I was able to actually get to answer a phone and finalize an apartment rental when I was originally looking in DC. She is on site everyday along with an assistant manager, two maintenance staff and a concierge, meaning any of our needs didn’t go more than 24 hours without addressing. The only negative I might point out is because this apartment is in a prime area, it can get a bit noisy late nights. However - still more than worth it to live within feet of most things you will need.

The apartment is in a great neighborhood but that is as far as my praises can go. The elevator was out of service for weeks at a time, repeatedly. This made groceries, pets, and stairs a challenge regularly. The cost of the apartments are high for the area. Other locations near by have way better prices and wont be located directly above a late night bar. Yes, there is drunk street singing until 4am many weekday and weekend nights. If you work in the morning, this is not for you. My apartment was a 1.5 bedroom and had only 1 closet in the bathroom, none in the bedrooms. The ceiling to floor windows are great for light but directly face a Whole Foods green neon sign that illuminate your windows all night. Breaking your lease on good terms results in an additional month or rent charged as a fee as well as a 30 day charge, so if you need to change your lease you will owe 2 months rent when leaving, this additional month was mind blowing. They also never shut off the power causing additional power bills as they have not rented my apartment yet and request you don't turn off the power until they have rented your space. Packages for Desoto constantly get lost and misplaced as we have a locked door with no concierge, unlike is advertised. My packages were constantly left in the hall way not locked in the mail room. Or were given to the wrong people, I had multiple packages opened and returned to the Hudson front desk as the front desk workers gave my packages to Hudson residence while it was clearly marked with MY name and the Desoto. Getting help in the evenings is impossible, 2 of the evening workers watch movies on their phone and refuse to get up to help with any task such as mail (the mail is 5 feet away, a very short walk). If you only have the option between the Hudson and Desoto, choose the Hudson. It has a concierge, multiple elevators, and a much nicer roof top. Living at the Desoto makes you feel like the neglected child, compared to the perks of the Hudson for the same price. Great location but I'm SO glad to be leaving. Hate to write a negative review since I spent so much time living in that concrete home.

The Hudson & Desoto apartment buildings are cheaply constructed apartment buildings with few amenities, but they charge extremely high rates for rent and market themselves as “luxury apartments.” The building is plagued by plumbing issues. I’ve lived in two different units and in both of them, I’ve had several issues with the washing/drying machine and sink backing up randomly and flooding water all over the apartment. The plumbers have had to come several times because the water backs up from the other apartment units since the pipes of the building were built too narrow. The property manager herself has confirmed the pipes are too narrow for the building but that they are not interested in spending the money that would be required to fix these plumbing issues. Despite being a luxury apartment building, there is no gym, pool, or other amenities you might expect for a building that charged about $3,000 in rent for a one bedroom apartment. Most of the staff is nice, but the property manager is unhelpful and unresponsive to emails. The walls of the building must be pretty thin as well because you can hear everything that happens outside. Another issue I’ve had in both units I’ve lived in is that there are gaps between the windows and doors, so heating the apartment in the winter gets expensive, and when it snows a lot, water seeps into the apartment. Would not recommend this building. I’m looking forward to moving out!

I’ve been living at the Hudson for many years and it is a great place to live. Hudson Management and staff are engaging and professional and respond quickly to tenant needs. Although not many amenities, for an older property it offers a great rooftop, parking, and storage. The concierge keeps our packages safe. The Hudson provides a safe community of neighbors in the best neighborhood in the city.

I have been a resident of the Hudson for a year now and have loved every minute of it. The location can’t be beat, and the amenities are newly renovated and outstanding. However, the real highlight of the property is the management. Laurie, Uwe, and Fostina, are incredibly helpful, kind, and welcoming. It always makes my day entering the lobby and being greeted by them. I have never been at a residence with better management and doubt I may ever find quality people like that again. Maintenance is incredibly fast and fixes things right every time. This is a top notch property in all aspects.
