Loved the guide. (Mitesh). He was very up beat and thorough. It was fun seeing all the options; and after I research more about the building across the street on 21st being built, I will be trying to get my high priorities met (south exposure, no carpet, that lovely washer and dryer, and might ask about renting a storage. Definitely want a safe parking space. Very cool concept and like that it is not a huge mega chain property

This place is truly amazing! My 11-year-old daughter and I looked at many apartments in Sacramento, and The Press was our first choice — and it has exceeded our expectations. We’ve been living here since last summer, and I wanted to share our experience to help anyone who is searching for a place in the Sacramento area. The amenities honestly feel better than a 5-star hotel. There is a 24-hour heated pool (the biggest apartment pool in Sacramento from what I found while searching), and my daughter swims there all year — even in winter. There’s a large gym, yoga room, bike repair room, game room, spacious office areas with free WiFi, and a beautiful rooftop deck that’s perfect for hosting special gatherings. They also offer complimentary coffee, Saturday breakfast (my daughter loves this!), and monthly resident events like pizza baking, Valentine’s bouquet making, s’mores day, and Christmas gift wrapping. The neighbors are friendly, and every time my daughter’s friends visit, they comment on how nice it is here. I also appreciate the guest policy (2 guests per visit), which helps keep things comfortable and not overcrowded. The property is extremely well managed and always clean. The cleaning and maintenance staff go above and beyond, and the office team is always kind and helpful. Our unit is very quiet, and the rent is reasonable for everything included. I pay around $2,250 per month, which covers rent, parking, water, sewer, and other utilities. Gas (SMUD) is separate and averages about $50 per month. Parking is secure and well managed, and there are plenty of spaces available. Another huge plus is the location — Midtown Farmers Market, Safeway, and many restaurants are within a 5-minute walk. My partner and I lived here for over a year. Overall, the experience was good. They do have fantastic amenities. They do nickel and dime you for just about EVERYTHING you can imagine. Over time, this just adds up. The parking fee is ridiculous, plus I noticed so many people parking in the garage without permits. So why pay if you can just sneak in??? Their communication could be better. I felt like many times they did not let us know when events and things were happening at the building. The biggest gripe I have with this company is their move-out process. They offer a "pre-move-out inspection," which we elected for. However, on the day our inspection was scheduled, management did not show up, and then lied and BLAMED ME for being 2 minutes late. They did not reschedule even though I specifically asked for it. On the day of our lease termination, my partner dropped off keys, and management offered a walk-through. Management let us know that they would be charging us $36 (???) for not cleaning out the dishwasher. It does not cost that much to clean a dishwasher, and it was relatively clean. ALSO if they had just shown up to our original inspection, this could have been avoided. They also did not provide us with a move out check list, which would have been helpful. Overall, the move out left a bad taste in my mouth about this whole place.

I’ve lived at the Press for the past two years and this is the good, bad and the ugly: **Updated rating and review to add more concerning issues about building Security and Fire** The Good: Location: Close to midtown but still easy parking for guests. I can walk to two grocery stores, my gym, restaurants, coffee shops and bars. The exception is living on the Q street side. The patrons at the bar across the street are super loud. They yell and blare music from their cars and generally make a ruckus. At 2:00 am. At least once a week. During the weekday. The employees: Tony at the leasing office is awesome. The maintenance is brilliant. Anytime I have an issue they are there within 24 hours or less to fix it. Neighbors: It’s definitely a community atmosphere so if you’re looking to know your neighbors, this is a good complex to choose. The amenities: In unit laundry, free bike parking, bbq and fire-pits, a pool, a well equipped gym, and more. They recently made updates to the patio furniture in the pool area. Some of it is nice but they also removed the covers on the pool cabanas and the hammocks. Pet friendly: They have a standard pet policy and for the most part make your pets feel welcome. The Bad: Security: 1st MAJOR CONCERN - The app to get in to the apartment complex doesn’t offer a way to remove devices. My crazy ex stole my login info so I changed it but apparently it doesn’t matter since the app doesn’t log out users. This is a huge security lapse and puts everyone at risk. Also there is an ongoing issue with mail theft, though our mail room is inside the apartment building. My debit card was stolen and my account was emptied. I alerted the leasing office and mentioned that other tenants had missing mail too. They said they reviewed the camera footage but couldn’t find anything. Then it happened again last month. This time they sent out an email to tenants about it. However we have a security team and security cameras. So how is it that this continues to happen? Restaurant Fire: 2nd MAJOR CONCERN: The ventilation in the apartment complex is connected to the restaurant. I can smell whatever it is they are cooking, especially in my bathroom. Recently there was a grease fire and my neighbor’s apartment who lives directly across was totally flooded. I’ve added photos to show the hallway. After the fire I could smell smoke which is very concerning since I have pets. The price increases from year to year: Every year they raise the rent to nearly the maximum allowed of 10%. It’s actually cheaper to move into another apartment in the complex than to stay in your unit. Parking: When I first moved in they charged me $250 per month. Then I heard from other tenants that they were paying only $100. All three were male and had began renting either before or after me. But somehow when I started renting it was $250 a month for parking? Another tenant who is female also paid the same price as me. So, while I’m not totally saying sexism is at play, it’s hard not to say that. Also they recently added 40 daily parking spaces that are NEVER used. Parking has become such a hassle that if I renew I’m going park in the new city owned lot across the street for $99 a month. The Ugly: Living off of Q street: The noise I mentioned. The other issue is the complex hallway entrance behind the Journey to the Dumpling restaurant. The hallway acts as the employee entrance for the kitchen. Grease and spills are tracked liberally into the hallway. The hallway used to be carpeted and the smells that arose from that carpet, nightmare filling. Old shrimp, grease and who knows what else. Luckily they gutted the hallway and put in an epoxy floor but it looks awful. The color is like a Gatorade blue hue and was installed without care. It’s already cracking, there is blue epoxy on the walls of the stairwell, and it looks like there is water damage in areas. Overall, the location, staff and neighbors make it an enticing place to live. The weird apartment politics and lack of security make it hard to stay.

My husband and I have lived here for a little over a year and have really enjoyed it. Firstly, our loft apartment on the top floor is gorgeous. Like seriously I could live here forever. I very rarely hear my neighbors, maintenance is extremely responsive, the gym is massive, ton of amenities, location is unbeatable, and management is nice and accommodating. Some of the other reviews here make me think people have never lived in a city before.
